Are Bali Weddings Legal in Spain?

Is your Bali marriage recognised in Spain?
Yes, once it is inscribed. A marriage of a Spanish citizen performed in Indonesia must be inscribed in the Spanish Registro Civil to have full civil effect in Spain. A marriage becomes legal in Indonesia once the religious ceremony is performed and recorded with the civil registry, and your Indonesian marriage certificate is the proof you carry home.
After the wedding: inscribe it in the Spanish civil registry
You inscribe it at the Spanish Consulate covering Indonesia in Jakarta, or at the Registro Civil Central in Madrid if you both live in Spain. The registrar checks the marriage meets Spanish requirements, then issues a Spanish marriage certificate. Inscription is free but can take some months.
Apostille and translation
Both countries are in the Apostille Convention, so your certificate needs an Indonesian apostille and a sworn translation into Spanish (traductor jurado). The Jakarta embassy's public page is out of date on this point, so confirm the apostille is accepted before you start. An apostille is a standard international certification of a public document, and since Indonesia joined the Apostille Convention in 2022 its authorities can issue one on your marriage certificate.
