Are Bali Weddings Legal in Poland?

Is your Bali marriage recognised in Poland?

Yes. Poland recognises a marriage validly performed in Indonesia, and it is transcribed into the Polish civil-status register. A marriage becomes legal in Indonesia once the religious ceremony is performed and recorded with the civil registry, and your Indonesian marriage certificate is the proof you carry home.

After the wedding: transcribe it at a registry office (USC)

You apply for transcription (umiejscowienie) at any registry office (USC) in Poland, or through a Polish consulate. It becomes mandatory when a Polish citizen needs a Polish ID document, a PESEL number, or another civil-registry action.

Apostille and translation

Both countries are in the Apostille Convention, so your certificate needs an Indonesian apostille and a translation into Polish by a sworn translator (tlumacz przysiegly). An apostille is a standard international certification of a public document, and since Indonesia joined the Apostille Convention in 2022 its authorities can issue one on your marriage certificate.
